NAIDOC Week 2020 Smoking Ceremony

During Term 4 2020 at Central Coast Sports College, students were able to experience NAIDOC week at CCSC, which was aimed at enriching, spreading awareness and celebrating the timeless culture and history of our Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community both past, present and emerging.

The week was an excellent opportunity for students to participate in a range of activities, ranging from traditional Yulunga games during sport sessions for warm-up, to informative and eye-opening lessons on language, the dreaming, history, culture and art. Michael Witton, Co-School Captain at CCSC, also ran a smoking ceremony that included Junior and Senior college to allow for greater cultural engagement. We opted not to hold a closing ceremony as we intend to continue to celebrate Indigenous cultures and educate our student body.
